Home Of The Wright County Fair
Come late July, Howard Lake is sure to be bustling with residents from all over the county coming to town to have some fun at the Wright County Fair.
Approximately 45,000 people attend the fair every year to experience all that it has to offer. Fun for any age, the fair offers exhibits, 4-H animals and exhibits, rides, savory fair food, and much, much more.
The exotic animals petting zoo, silly pig races, rock wall climbing, 4-H shows and demonstrations, Midway rides and activities, along with the delicious fair food, are among the favorites that can be experienced every day at the fair.
Different every day is the live music and entertainment, either on the free stage or under the entertainment tent.
New to the 2007 Wright County Fair was the combine demolition derby which produced a sold-out show. Eleven participants and their giant machines, some with elaborate paint jobs, took the grandstand arena to see which combine would conquer all.
The combine derby was so new to the state, FOX 9 News even featured a story about the event and the preparation that went into it.
Taking place the first night of the fair is the Fairest of the Fair coronation, in which an array of single women, ages 17-25, compete from around the county for the crown to have an opportunity to represent the Wright County Fair.
The past three years, Howard Lake has had the honor of having one of its own girls represent Wright County as Fairest of the Fair.
The 2006 Fairest of the Fair, Courtney Heuer of Howard Lake handed over her crown in 2007 to Morgan Kleve, also of Howard Lake.
For car smashing maniacs, the fair offers its demolition derby Friday and Sunday nights, which even includes a Powder Puff Derby, where ladies can have a smashing time as well.
